We are looking forward to starting our Seal trips this year on the 8th of July, but with an extremely limited capacity of 12 people only per boat ( normally 50 & 43 people), so you will need to book in advance, extra trips will be added where the tides allow. The only way to keep the business economically viable and retain employment is to charge £13 per person regardless of age. Private charters will also be available.
We will be taking all bookings in advance by telephone and it is essential that you visit our website first at www.bishopsboats.co.uk so that you can see the latest safety requirements regarding your booking and covid-19.
Our business has been covid approved by the “We’re Good to go” campaign in partnership with the tourist organisations of Great Britain.
We hope you are all well and will be able to visit us safely this year.
Bishops Boats is located in Blakeney on the glorious North Norfolk Coast and we run passenger boats, taking visitors to see the seal colony at Blakeney to marvel at their antics as they sunbathe on the exposed sands and admire their graceful movement through the water.
Our boats depart from Blakeney or Morston Quay with some of the trips offering the chance to land on Blakeney Point.
Blakeney Point and spit not only protect the Harbour and surrounding saltmarshes from the sea, but also provides a perfect habitat for residential and migratory wildlife.
Book ahead by telephone for all seal trips to avoid disappointment. Tickets must be collected from Blakeney Quay no later than 30 minutes before sailing time.
Our boats wind their way down the creek before heading out into sheltered waters and onto the far end of Blakeney Point and you may observe both common and grey seals from the boats and this is the best way to see the seals. We can get really close to the seals basking in the sun near the water’s edge.
Our knowledgeable crew will tell you all about the seals and the area. You can observe all the birds and perhaps see a large tern colony well established on Blakeney Point.
For passenger comfort Bishop’s Boats operate a non-smoking policy on-board. Well behaved dogs are welcome (at our discretion).
All trips are seal-watching trips lasting approximately 1hr but on some seal trips when tides and conditions allow, we also stop on Blakeney Point Nature Reserve, if you wish, adding ½ – 1 hour to the trip time.
Trip Times
Departure, duration and return times may vary as they are very dependent on tidal and weather conditions, location of seals and passenger promptness!
