Set right on the riverside, with stunning views out over the river, marsh and grazing, Hide Cottage is a quiet getaway on the Norfolk Broads. Located in the 3000-acre Upper Thurne Nature Reserve (SSSI) it is ideal for bird watching, boating, fishing or just relaxing away from it all. The perfect escape for all ages.
Hide cottage is accessible only by boat or a short 400-yard walk, which ensures a truly peaceful break in one of the most delightful and historic spots on the Norfolk Broads and benefits from being above Potter Heigham bridge, which keeps 95% of the river traffic at bay, leaving you just the traditional broads sailing cruisers and the occasional fisherman.
Outside the cottage has a 25ft dock and 40ft river frontage, ideal for boating or fishing. There is a lawn to the riverside, a patio and storage shed. To the rear of Hide Cottage is a lovely South-East facing raised patio, looking out over the old mill and lowland grazing and making it the perfect spot for breakfast or lunch.
Inside the large main lounge has floor to ceiling glazed windows on three sides and looks out over the river and nature reserves beyond. There is a Morso wood burner for Autumn and Winter holidays and a large sofa and dining table. There is also a TV, DVD and Sky box, for which you are welcome to bring your own sky card. All this for your own entertainment.
The kitchen is equipped for all that you might need during your stay, including pans, crockery, cutlery and knives. There is an oven, grill and halogen hob, kettle and fridge.
The main bedroom also looks out over the river and nature reserve and has a double bed with Organic & Fairtrade bedding as well as built in full height wardrobes and shelves. There is also a small vanity unit and mirror.
The second bedroom has two single beds and large bunk bed that has been known to sleep two small children nose to tail! There is also a chest of draws and a picture window with views out of the lowland grazing behind.
The shower room has a large shower cubicle, with a toilet and sink.
We want you to relax from the moment you arrive, so you’ll find everything you need for a cup of tea or coffee, together with an East Anglian food and drink hamper.
Included in your stay:
Organic/Fair-trade Bedding and towels
East Anglian Food and Drink Hamper
Logs for the wood burner
Electricity
Parking for one car, with further car parking available.
Please note: It is with deep regret that we have to advise that Hide Cottage is not suitable for wheel chair users, due to the tight pathway leading to the cottage. We also ask that other users please do bear in mind that the cottage is 400-yards from the car park when booking, although a good 4 wheel trolley is provided for bringing down your baggage and food.
