The Chequers Inn

The Chequers Inn is a traditional inn located on the High Street of quiet Thornham village on the north Norfolk coast. You will find a free parking and wi-fi throughout the hotel, a traditional bar, sun-trapped relaxing courtyard, stylish dining room and 11 recently refurbished, individual bedrooms.

Each of the hotel’s 11 bedrooms feature en suite bathrooms, smart TVs, sloe gin, king-sized beds, Missoni throws, DAB radios with Bluetooth connectivity, ESPA toiletries and dressing gowns.

Smaller but extremely cosy and intimate rooms with a stylish bathroom with walk-in shower. Ideal for couples or those travelling on their own.

Our Best and Better rooms can accommodate a cot and folding bed which is perfect for older children (can be provided on request, subject to availability).

We are also very dog friendly as we know how much dogs and their owners like to spend time together and there are the most fabulous walks to be taken on the beached, marshes and through the lovely countryside that North Norfolk is famous for.

Dogs are welcome not only in the rooms but also in the cosy bar, snug and outside in our sunny courtyard.

If you walk towards Wells, dogs can enjoy scrambling over the dunes, exploring the seawater pools, splashing in the sea. There is a lovely return walk through the pinewoods as an alternative to the beach. 

Be aware that these are tidal beaches. The tide can change rapidly, and you can be cut off quite quickly if you walk too far from the coastline. Keep a careful watch on the sea as you walk to ensure the safety of yourself and your dog.

The Chequers Inn is only a short drive away from Hunstanton, Brancaster and Holkham beaches, the RSPB bird reserve in Titchwell and on the doorstep of the royal estate at Sandringham.
