Watatunga Wildlife Reserve is situated near to the historic town of Kings Lynn and offers a unique safari experience from your own electric buggy, which you drive on our guided tours and allow you to get up close and personal with many of our animals and admire the stunning scenery.

Watatunga also offers 2 luxurious lodges all stays include a complimentary guided tour and unlimited buggy access to Watatunga Wildlife Reserve so you will be able to feel at one with nature all around you.

Buggy and Trailer Tours

Our animals,, which include endangered breeds of deer, antelope and birds, are all allowed to roam freely within the reserve which means that while we cannot guarantee what you will see, every visit will be unique. You can be sure that the animals that make an appearance are at home and enjoy the most natural environment we can provide for them, including rich grasslands to graze, the lake to drink from and the ferns and the woodland floor to provide cover.

Watatunga is located in 170 acres of unused Wetland, and we are taking a pioneering approach to protecting the planet’s last populations of near extinct deer, antelope and rare birds.

A visit to our wildlife reserve will allow you to meet some rare mammals that you won’t find anywhere else in the world, let alone the UK, including the mountain bongo, hog deer and Malayan sambar. Your visit will also be helping us to ensure the survival of these magnificent animals and prevent them from becoming extinct.

Our tour season runs from April until October each year with guided buggy tours every day of the week except Mondays and trailer tours on Saturdays throughout the summer. Each tour runs for approx. 90 minutes with five 4-seater electric golf buggies, one 6-seater and one wheel-chair accessible option per tour. When you book a buggy, one member of your party will drive the buggy and it is booked in its entirety – you will not be sharing a buggy with others outside your party.

Luxury Self Catering Lodges

Our super accommodation comprises of The Stable Cottage and Major’s Lodge, both offer tranquillity and luxury in a unique setting and offer the opportunity to explore the reserve by electric buggy throughout your stay.

The Stable Cottage

The Stable Cottage is a five-star retreat set in the beautiful walled garden of the Watlington estate overlooking the breeding paddocks of Watatunga Wildlife Reserve just a short drive or walk from where your buggies await you.

Available throughout the year the Stable Cottage offers a spacious and relaxed home. Featuries include an open fire, a wood fired hot tub, a beautiful triple-aspect garden room, perfect for dining with friends, four bedrooms with a ground floor bedroom suite, each with bathroom facilities and luxury four-poster in the master suite.

Major's Lodge

Major’s Lodge is a wonderful single-story wooden safari lodge, newly renovated it overlooks the grassy expanses and lakes of Watatunga Wildlife Reserve. Major’s Lodge is a wheelchair accessible property that sleeps up to eight people. Guests can view many of Watatunga’s highly endangered deer and antelope stock from the comfort of their sitting-room.
