Snettisham

Snettisham

Situated on the edge of the Wash, Snettisham is a country village with coastal appeal. Just a stone’s throw from the heart of the village a wide expanse of sand and shingle is bordered by unspoilt heath and marshlands that host a veritable treasure trove of flora and fauna. Meditate for a while and watch as wading birds such as avocets, knots, and bar-tailed godwit pick their way through the mud flats in search of food. While solitude and serenity can be found in abundance along this often deserted stretch of Norfolk’s sunset coast, opulence and grandeur are on offer just a few short miles away within the Sandringham Estate. Purchased by Queen Victoria in 1862, Sandringham House has been the private residence of four generations of the British Royal Family.
